The Aero Conestoga® is the original rolling tarp system designed to give flatbed operators the flexibility of an open deck with the protection of an enclosed trailer. The system rolls along a stainless steel track using steel V-groove wheels, allowing the entire tarp structure to move smoothly forward or backward for quick access to the load. With all components operated from ground level and locking systems that travel with the rear bow, the Conestoga is built to reduce manual tarping, improve safety, and maintain full access for side, rear, or top loading.

DISPLAYED PRICE IS AN ESTIMATE: Price will vary based on configurations, such as height, bulkhead options, curtain style, etc. After you order or submit for quote, we will provide a detail sheet to collect information about your trailer and your preferences for the finished system, and your quote will be updated accordingly. Over or under charges will be resolved before finalizing and shipping your order.

Core System Design

The Conestoga uses an internal track and wheel system that protects key components from debris and impact while maintaining smooth operation over time. Its steel-on-steel V-groove wheel and track design minimizes maintenance and helps prevent common issues like wheel flat-spotting. The system’s panelized tarp and sealed structure are designed for consistent weather protection while allowing individual sections to be serviced as needed.

Operation & Locking Options

The system is fully operable from the ground and offers two primary rear locking options:

  • Tension Lock (screw drive): Uses a crank handle to precisely set tarp tension, making it a good fit for operators who want maximum control over tarp tightness.
  • Speed Lock (over-center): Allows for quick, single-motion operation using a winch bar, making daily opening and closing faster and simpler.

Both systems are designed so lock components move with the rear bow, reducing extra steps and improving ease of use during frequent stops.

Bulkhead Options

The Conestoga offers multiple bulkhead configurations depending on application and compliance needs:

  • DOT Bulkhead: Intended for operators who need a DOT-rated front bulkhead for compliant load securement applications.
  • Standard Non-DOT Bulkhead: Available with or without an access door, offering a simpler configuration where DOT rating is not required.
  • Heavy Duty Non-DOT Bulkhead: Adds more robust construction and hardware, with access door options for operators who want added durability and front access.

All bulkheads feature an aerodynamic design to help reduce drag, and optional chain racks, trays, and polished aluminum front sheets are available depending on trailer setup and preference.

Rear Curtain Options

Two rear curtain styles are available, depending on how you prefer to operate the system:

  • Roll Curtain: Crank-operated and stores above the opening, providing full rear opening height and better clearance for loading from the back.
  • Pull Curtain: Uses a rope-and-pulley design for simpler operation without a crank handle, though it does not provide full-height rear clearance.

An optional AeroRad rear device can also be added to improve aerodynamics and help secure the curtain with a watertight seal.

Structure & Bow Configurations

The system uses 30" front and rear bows for improved stability and smoother rolling. Uplift bow options are available to reduce tarp sag and improve internal load clearance:

  • Double Uplift: Provides greater internal tarp rise, making it a good choice when maximizing clearance is a priority.
  • Quad Uplift: Provides a more controlled tarp profile with additional support across the system.

Spring-loaded uplift components help absorb road vibration, which can improve tarp life and reduce wear on the system over time.

Application & Fitment

The Conestoga is available for flatbeds, drop decks, and straight trucks. Drop deck versions can be configured to tarp from the front, from the rear, or in hybrid arrangements depending on loading style and trailer layout. Custom graphics and panel options are also available for fleets that want branded equipment.

Summary

The Aero Conestoga is a proven rolling tarp system for operators who need weather protection without giving up the accessibility of a flatbed. With multiple choices for rear locks, bulkheads, curtains, and bow configurations, it can be set up around how the trailer is actually used, while still maintaining straightforward ground-level operation and long-term durability.

INSTALLATION: This system takes an estimated 30 hours to install. Installation can be performed at our shop in Ware Shoals, SC, or at the manufacturer's facility.
